Are You Experiencing Difficulty Focusing?

For many people, as we age, we experience a degradation of optical focus. This can be addressed during your annual eye exams. Often, the gradual changes can be attributed to age-related “wear and tear” of the eyes. If you would like to correct your vision it can be done usually with eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Sudden changes in focus could be minor and could be corrected without medical attention. Frequent use of television or computers can lead to tired eyes or blurred vision. Some tricks you can use to alleviate your eyes is to shift your focus by taking regular breaks or using eye drops.  It is important to take breaks from lights and screens, and if you notice are experiencing persistent complications or your vision problems start to impede regular activities call us at New Vision. The solution you need may be as simple as corrective lenses, such as eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Eye Disorders Related to Loss of Focus

Near and farsightedness are the most common problems associated with loss of eye focus. These disorders are thought to be either hereditary or environmental and can typically be corrected with eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Myopia is known commonly as nearsightedness. This condition affects many people as well and is a very common condition. This condition can occur in children, but it is very common to begin when people reach teenage and will continue to progress through adulthood.

Hyperopia is commonly known as farsightedness. Farsightedness is when your vision is poor and blurry up close. If you have hyperopia and attempt to focus for long periods, you may experience severe eye fatigue and headaches. Glasses or contact lenses are abundantly helpful in correcting this impairment. Laser surgery (LASIK) can also be an option if cleared by your eye doctor.
